Tracey Wallace is a Senior Certified, Strategic HR Consultant with over 15 years’ experience championing People, Learning and Performance principles within corporate and educational organisations across the Caribbean and United States. At the heart of her practice is the belief in a People-focused strategy: once team members are effectively ALIGNED, ENGAGED and EMPOWERED to act, a sustainable, high-performance culture can be realised. Without those factors, team success is unpredictable and unreliable. Her contribution lies in my ability to successfully facilitate the processes of engagement, strategic alignment and talent development to deliver targeted business outcomes.
Presentation: 8 Steps Towards a More Strategic HR
For well over a decade, the call for HR to take a seat alongside the CEO and CFO as a strategic business leader has been increasing in intensity. Some have claimed that Marketing has superseded HR by more effectively demonstrating its value to the organisation. But why has HR been so slow to make the transition? Is the change truly necessary? And what is the status of HR in the Caribbean?
In this session, I will briefly take participants through the evolution of HR, leading up to the present call for HR to undertake a more strategic rather than supportive role. Together we will chart the course undertaken by HR in the Caribbean: where we are today, where should we be today, and where will we be in the next ten years.
Participants will leave the session with:
- a tool to assess if their HR team is functioning strategically;
- an appreciation of the need for HR to be more strategic; and
- a roadmap for how to take themselves and their HR teams to a position of adding greater value to their organisation.
